The Kitchen is a nonprofit arts center based in New York City, one of the city's oldest of its kind. It provides opportunities for both emerging and established artists to create and present new work across dance, music, theater, visual art, and literature, encouraging cross-disciplinary collaboration. Founded in 1971 as an artist collective by Woody and Steina Vasulka and incorporated as a nonprofit in 1973, it helped pioneer video and performance and supported early careers of multiple notable artists.

The organization is mid-sized and internationally recognized for fostering a community of artists and audiences that engage with innovative work and meaningful cultural dialogue. In 2018, Art Basel partnered with The Kitchen to present a new version of a project by Abraham Cruzvillegas, illustrating its ongoing collaborations with major cultural partners.
