Established in 1968, the foundation funds scientific inquiry while facilitating education and outreach to broad audiences. Its work targets researchers, students, educators, and the general public who are interested in how humans evolved and behaved over time. As a donor-supported entity operating in the nonprofit sector, it engages in activities such as fellowships and partnerships to advance archaeological and anthropological scholarship, situating itself among organizations that promote science and public knowledge. Recent developments include returning Baldwin Fellowship recipients for the fall 2025 cycle and collaborations with institutions like the Field Museum to host events featuring prominent researchers, reflecting its ongoing efforts to connect scientific research with communities and institutions.
