The Mars Society is a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing human exploration and settlement of Mars. Founded in 1998 by Dr. Robert Zubrin and others, it is based in Golden, Colorado. It aims to inform the public, media, and policymakers about the potential benefits of Mars exploration and supports education and research through hands-on programs and events. Its programs include the University Rover Challenge, Mars Desert Research Station, and Flashline Station, which provide opportunities for students and researchers to engage with Mars-like environments and rover operations. In 2024, The Mars Society launched The Journal of Space Analog Research to showcase developments in analog research.
