Founded in 1992, it has earned recognition as a prominent trade publisher, with its titles recognized by critics, educators, and readers and numerous awards. Its editorial program aims to broaden access to serious intellectual work, elevate underrepresented voices, and highlight reform and innovation across diverse fields. The Press works with a broad network of donors, partners in the independent media and not-for-profit sectors, booksellers, librarians, and authors to bring its titles to readers and to educators and students.
