The JAX-NYSCF Collaborative brings together the complementary scientific strengths of The Jackson Laboratory and The New York Stem Cell Foundation to advance and accelerate biomedical discovery. As our understanding of disease biology becomes more complex, progress is increasingly constrained not by ideas, but by the limitations of existing research models and the challenge of translating discovery into human biology. No single system is sufficient on its own. The Collaborative integrates mouse genetics, human stem cell-derived cellular systems, and data science, bringing the synergy of multiple models together to create discovery platforms that improve rigor, reproducibility, and the accuracy with which new therapies are developed. By enabling findings to be tested and refined across systems, this approach strengthens confidence in results and their relevance to patients. The JAX-NYSCF Collaborative operates as enabling scientific infrastructure. Its purpose is to partner with researchers and organizations across the public and private sectors who are pushing the boundaries of discovery, not to promote individual programs or initiatives, but to strengthen shared platforms that fuel discovery across diseases, institutions, and stages of translation. Independent, focused, and committed to advancing meaningful scientific progress, the Collaborative works at the cutting edge of biomedical research to help discoveries move faster and with greater confidence toward patient impact. Philanthropic support plays a critical role by enabling innovative models, systems, and strategies to be developed, demonstrated, and de-risked before industry engagement is appropriate. This work is science-led, deliberately paced, and grounded in active research, with the long-term goal of accelerating cures for patients through a new model of biomedical discovery.
