The Payments Association functions as an independent representative for the payments sector, supporting member firms of all sizes with guidance through a complex regulatory landscape and by facilitating practical partnerships. Its aim is to cultivate a leading payments community where connections, collaboration, and learning strengthen the ecosystem. It engages with a broad set of industry stakeholders, including central banks and regulators such as the Bank of England, the FCA, and HM Treasury, to inform policy and drive innovation. Based in London, the organization operates as the trading name of Emerging Payments Ventures Limited and maintains a program of monthly events, including PAY360, CEO roundtables, and training activities. It runs seven stakeholder working groups—Inclusion, Regulator, Financial Crime, Cross-Border, ESG and Open Banking—whose volunteers reflect member perspectives at key moments. In addition to events, it curates exclusive industry research in its Insights knowledge base and, in May 2026, named Emma Banymandhub as CEO.
