The Phillipian is the weekly student newspaper of Phillips Academy, with its first issue dating back to 1857. It is produced entirely by students and operates without censorship, with new editions published each Friday during the academic year. Each issue spans about 12 to 16 pages and is organized into five sections—News, Commentary, Sports, Arts, and Features—covering campus life, athletics, performances, and a range of opinion pieces and humor. Students serve as writers, editors, and the central subjects of the paper, shaping headlines, lead photos, and profiles that reflect the Andover community. Based in Andover, Massachusetts, the publication acts as a forum for discussion and as the written voice of the school, connecting the campus with surrounding communities through shared information. In September 2020, The Phillipian launched the Andover Anti-Racism Task Force, a concrete recent development noted in its reporting.
