The Plaza Cinema & Media Arts Center is a not-for-profit cultural organization based in Patchogue, New York, on Long Island's South Shore, focused on presenting film as an art form and a medium for multicultural exchange and social responsibility. It began in 2011 as a volunteer-led initiative and has since grown into a digital cinema housed on the ground floor of the Art Space Apartments on Terry Street, a block south of Main Street. It screens mainstream and independent films and hosts guest speakers, as well as filmed operas, ballets, and plays, and it also serves as a venue for live events such as locally curated music and stand-up comedy. The Plaza runs media arts education programs, including animation and filmmaking classes, reflecting its role in media literacy and community education. It has completed seven sessions of Media Arts Classes in the past three years and is working to broaden its programming.
