The REACH Institute is a nonprofit organization focused on ensuring scientifically validated mental health care for children and families is accessible. It is led by national experts in child psychiatry, psychology, and pediatrics and trains a wide range of professionals—pediatricians, family practitioners, child psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, nurse practitioners, school personnel—and parents and advocates in evidence-based therapies, from psychotherapy to pharmacology. The institute implements a four-step process to move research into local communities: identify high-quality findings, adapt interventions to be child- and family-friendly, disseminate and implement them, and provide ongoing access to programs, materials, and technical assistance to sustain change. Based in Astoria, New York, the organization operates within the nonprofit health and child mental health sector with a focus on expanding access to proven interventions. It aims to shorten the usual lag between scientific advances and patient care, targeting more than 3 million young people. A recent development is a training partnership with Valley Health to host a pediatric mental health program in Winchester in August 2024.
