Founded in 1993 in rural Pennsylvania, RMP Finishes™ began as D.O. Siever Products, created by antique restorer Dwayne Siever. While restoring early American furniture, Dwayne discovered that traditional finishes used milk paint, leading him to develop Real Milk Paint®—a nontoxic, historically accurate formula made with natural ingredients. By 1995, he introduced the first ten colors at a local craft fair, which quickly gained a following. As demand grew, the company expanded its product line to include Pure Tung Oil, Citrus Solvent, waxes, and other natural wood finishes. In 2004, the business officially came into being as The Real Milk Paint Co. to reflect its growing identity and customer base. To support continued growth, the company relocated to Tennessee in 2010, completing a new manufacturing facility by 2014. A visual rebrand followed in 2015, reinforcing its commitment to clean, transparent branding. During the DIY boom of 2020–2021, the company expanded its facility and reached new audiences, driven by demand for safe, sustainable products. In 2025, the brand evolved once more—relaunching as RMP Co Finishes™. While Real Milk Paint® remains a cornerstone product, the new name reflects a broader focus on high-quality, eco-conscious finishes. Today, RMP Co Finishes™ remains family-owned and committed to crafting safe, effective products for professionals and DIYers alike. Today, RMP Co Finishes™ remains a small, family-owned business that is committed to continuing its legacy of creating finishes that blend nature’s brilliance with everyday simplicity to make sustainable solutions for all.
