The Sarasota Ballet is a mid-sized professional performing arts company based in Sarasota, Florida, and it serves as the Gulf Coast's only professional ballet company. Founded in 1987 as a presenting organization and achieving resident status in 1990, the company expanded its repertoire significantly after 2007 under Artistic Director Iain Webb, adding 163 new ballets from renowned choreographers, including works that had rarely been seen in the United States and had not previously been staged in Sarasota. The organization operates The Sarasota Ballet School, with Alberto Blanco named principal in 2025, succeeding Jennifer Welch Cudnik. It has actively expanded community engagement, appointing Charmaine Hunter as community engagement director in 2024 and announcing its 2024–2025 season. Its artistic programming has included high-profile collaborations, including Jessica Lang serving as Artist in Residence in 2023.
