The SEEP Network operates as a collaborative learning platform within international development, supporting market-based strategies that expand opportunities for vulnerable groups, especially women and rural poor, to participate in markets and improve their livelihoods. Founded in 1985, SEEP emerged as an early leader in the microcredit movement and helped shape the foundations of contemporary financial inclusion. Its members operate across about 150 countries, collaborating to share knowledge, test innovative approaches, and expand inclusive markets. Based in Arlington, Virginia, the organization comprises a small to mid-sized team focused on knowledge sharing and stakeholder collaboration. In 2017, SEEP, in partnership with FSD Africa, convened a national stakeholder meeting in Benin for stakeholders involved with Savings Groups, bringing together NGOs, government ministries, financial service providers, and donors.
