The Tree Council is a UK-based non-profit organization focused on trees outside of major forests, working to support and protect trees in communities such as streets, parks, schools, orchards, hedgerows, and pastures. It coordinates a network of volunteer Tree Wardens, conducts science and social research with partners, and maintains advisory relationships on vegetation management for large infrastructure corridors, including railways. The organization operates through partnerships with around 120 member groups, academic institutions, and noted supporters, and runs a small grants program for planting projects that culminates in National Tree Week each November. Based in London, England, the Tree Council has a history spanning nearly five decades and engages in community-facing programs, research collaborations, and strategic partnerships to promote tree planting, conservation, and awareness across the UK.
