The Uncommon Individual Foundation (UIF) is a nonprofit organization focused on mentor-based learning. It supports individuals and organizations by providing subject-matter mentoring in business, education, media, and technology to help them succeed. UIF was founded in 1986 by Dr. Richard E. Caruso, who also started Integra Life Sciences, and attributes much of his entrepreneurial success to mentors. Based in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, UIF operates as a relatively small nonprofit. In June 2020, a partnership with DSBD expanded UIF's reach by enabling small businesses that previously did not qualify due to non-compliance to be covered, under an acknowledgment of debt and stipulated repayment terms.
