The Village of Arts and Humanities is a small nonprofit based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, rooted in the Fairhill-Hartranft neighborhood and focused on arts and community revitalization. Now in its 38th year, the organization works to support artists and Black community residents as they imagine, design, and build a more just and equitable society. Its purpose centers on applying arts-based approaches to address disinvestment and foster neighborhood renewal. Each year, the organization engages more than 1,500 community members through programs that blend artistic practice with social justice, youth leadership, and equitable revitalization. It pursues four primary objectives: organizing community groups to design and implement care-based public safety strategies; preserving and amplifying Black-centered arts, activism, and community development; preparing young people for work and postsecondary education as creative problem solvers; and modeling revitalization efforts that enable shared equity ownership, permanent affordability of public property, and the creation of green, aspirational public spaces. In 2023, it launched the Village Oracle, a temporary exhibition on its Creative Campus.
