The Western Pennsylvania Conservancy is a private nonprofit environmental organization headquartered in Pittsburgh, founded in 1932. Its work centers on protecting and restoring natural places to enhance the region's quality of life, ensuring access to clean water, healthy forests and wildlife, and miles of preserved natural areas for public exploration. Through decades of effort, the Conservancy has helped establish 11 state parks, conserved more than 260,000 acres of natural lands, and protected or restored more than 3,000 miles of rivers and streams. Beyond land conservation, the organization owns and operates Fallingwater, a site recognized as a symbol of harmony between people and nature. It also supports urban greening by planting and maintaining 130 community gardens and greenspaces with thousands of volunteers each year, and has planted more than 105,000 trees. The Conservancy's work relies on a broad membership base; a recent development includes a $25,000 grant from the West Penn Energy Fund to support energy and facility assessments at its Pittsburgh headquarters and at Fallingwater grounds in Mill Run, Fayette County.
