The Women's Building is a women-led community space in San Francisco that centers self-determination, gender equality, and social justice. Its origins lie with San Francisco Women's Centers, founded in 1971, and it became one of the first women-owned community centers after purchasing the building in 1979. The space provides daily social services to women and their families and supports in-house and partner groups to advance community work in an affordable, progressive setting. Each year, the organization connects more than 20,000 women and families with social services, arts, wellness and educational opportunities. It operates within the civic and social organizations sector and is based at 3543 18th Street, San Francisco, California. In 2026, it partnered with Habitat for Humanity to build four homes in Tooele, illustrating ongoing collaboration to expand community impact.
