The Wooden Floor is a mid-sized nonprofit focused on creative youth development through dance, based in Santa Ana, Orange County, California, and founded in 1983. It uses long-term, exploratory dance education to support young people from low-income communities in accessing higher education. Through programs in Orange County and with national licensed partners, it aims to cultivate confidence, communication, and collaboration that contribute to school success and broader life outcomes. All graduates enroll in higher education, reflecting the program's emphasis on academic pathways. In February 2024, The Wooden Floor partnered with Chapman University’s Musco Center to host master classes featuring performing artists from Small Island Big Song for its students. This collaboration illustrates ongoing ties with higher education and arts institutions that expand learning opportunities for participants.
