The Writers BootCamp is a Santa Monica-based organization operating in the writing and editing industry. Founded in 1989, it offers intensive screenwriting instruction through classes, coursework, and ongoing membership support to help writers develop their craft and pursue opportunities in film and television. The program provides a structured pathway that combines formal training with professional resources, supported by a small to mid-sized team. Its alumni include writers, filmmakers, actors, and executives, with recognition from major awards such as Emmy, Tony, WGA, Webby, and Academy Award winners, and many have hundreds of writing credits and thousands of hours of produced television and web series. Prospective participants can complete a career survey to schedule a free creative session to identify a viable script idea and determine eligibility for coursework, and Work Study candidates can save up to 50% on Professional Membership.
