Theater Alliance is a Washington, DC-based performing arts organization that develops, produces, and presents socially conscious work designed to engage the community in active dialogue. Founded to illuminate the experiences of DC’s diverse populations, the company structures its seasons around three to four productions, including world, American and DC premieres. Its programming features works by renowned playwrights such as Salman Rushdie, Daniel MacIvor, Toni Morrison, Rebecca Gilman, Adam Bock, Victor Lodato, and Seamus Heaney, and it has earned Helen Hayes nominations. The organization operates as a small to midsize entity in the performing arts sector, with a presence in the DC arts community and memberships with industry groups like the League of Washington Theaters and Cultural Alliance of Greater Washington. In December 2025 it announced plans to create a permanent arts hub at the Westerly development, renovating over 9,000 square feet to include two theaters, rehearsal space, and a civic engagement center.
