Thousand Islands Land Trust (TILT) is a small nonprofit based in Clayton, New York, dedicated to protecting the Thousand Islands landscape. Since 1985 it has safeguarded the region by accepting conservation easements, acquiring land, and establishing public spaces for outdoor enjoyment. Today, the organization protects more than 13,000 acres of land, including wetlands, grasslands, and woodlands, across ten Signature Preserves and 21 miles of trails that are open year-round. The conserved lands provide habitat for threatened or endangered species, help filter water in watershed areas, protect historic sites, and preserve scenic and recreational values for the community. TILT operates as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and holds national accreditation from the Land Trust Alliance, first awarded in 2009 with reaccreditations in 2014 and 2019. In 2025, the organization launched a new website to improve access to information and programs.
