Thread Capital is a nonprofit organization based in Raleigh that helps start-ups and existing entrepreneurs successfully grow their businesses. It began lending across North Carolina in 2018, with an initial focus on the state’s many underserved entrepreneurs and small businesses. After back-to-back hurricanes devastated parts of the state, Thread Capital stepped in to meet another unmet need and began investing in disaster recovery financing programs for small businesses. As it continues to evolve and identify new gaps to fill, Thread Capital is weaving a new era of inclusive entrepreneurship in North Carolina.

Thread Capital was launched in 2018 by the NC Rural Center and continues to be an operating subsidiary of the Center.
