Thyssengas is a mid-sized utilities company that operates a high-pressure gas transmission network in western Germany, based in Dortmund, North Rhine-Westphalia. For more than a century it has supplied reliable gas to city utilities, industrial plants, and power plants, using a roughly 4,400-kilometer network centered in NRW. The company transports about six billion cubic meters of natural gas annually to end consumers. As part of its strategic evolution, Thyssengas is preparing its infrastructure to transport hydrogen and other green gases, forming part of the planned national hydrogen network. It collaborates with other transmission operators and local actors on 35 hydrogen-related projects totaling around 1,100 kilometers of line within the H2 kernel framework. In 2026 Thyssengas announced cross-border hydrogen collaboration with Gasunie and Open Grid Europe to develop a hydrogen corridor between the Netherlands and Germany.
