Tifereth Israel is an energetic, welcoming, and growing synagogue in the heart of Columbus. We are passionate about inclusion of all people, of all levels of Jewish knowledge and experience, of all financial means, of all lifestyles. We have a nationally recognized program for affirming the value of interfaith families and Jews-by-choice, a history of being at the center of social justice work in Columbus, and an award-winning religious school that educates and inspires hundreds of students every year. We are fully gender-egalitarian, we pray in traditional Jewish modes, and we embody the best of what it means to practice an age-old religion in the contemporary world. Our clergy team – Rabbi Hillel Skolnik, Rabbi Alex Braver, Rabbi Emeritus Harold Berman, and Cantor Jack Chomsky – are renowned as caring, relatable, and dynamic Jewish leaders. We are the largest synagogue in Columbus, with a huge diversity of programming, but we also consciously cultivate a sense of intimacy and our congregants forge tight friendships with each other.
