Top Clef Publishing is a book publisher based in Santa Monica, California, focused on developing sight-reading skills for beginner to intermediate music students. Its Notebusters Collection provides a range of note-reading exercises across instruments such as piano, guitar, violin, flute, bass, and trumpet, addressing gaps in traditional music theory materials. The company aims to support early-stage musicians by improving their ability to read music through hundreds of exercises printed on 8.5 x 11-inch pages. Founded in 2012 by pianist and teacher Karen Spurney, Top Clef Publishing originated from her efforts to create effective note-reading drills for her students. In August 2023, the company announced a new line of Beginner Music Workbooks to enhance note-reading skills, signaling a recent product development aligned with its core mission.
