The Town of Fort Myers Beach, located in Florida, operates under a council-manager government and administers municipal affairs on Estero Island. It serves a year-round population of about 6,500 residents, plus around 140,000 seasonal residents and more than one million visitors each year. Estero Island runs seven miles along the Gulf of Mexico, bounded by Matanzas Pass Bridge to the north and Big Carlos Pass Bridge to the south; Estero Bay and Matanzas Pass lie on the opposite side. The town maintains parks, recreation and cultural facilities and oversees core municipal services such as code enforcement, zoning and permitting, as well as beach and boat access, stormwater, streets and utilities. As of May 1, 2026, Emergency Services Director Tom Yozzo is retiring, marking a notable leadership change for the town.
