Morinville is located in Sturgeon County (which has their offices in Morinville) and is poised on the doorstep of the City of St. Albert and the City of Edmonton to the south, follows the North Saskatchewan river to the east, reaches just north of the Town of Legal, and touches Sandy Lake in the west.  The towns of Bon Accord, Gibbons, Legal, Redwater and many others are also located in Sturgeon County, as is the Canadian Forces Edmonton Garrison.
