The Town of Westborough operates as a municipal government in Massachusetts, delivering local public services to residents. It serves a community of just over 18,000 people and provides schools and public services for all ages, along with recreation programs. In July 2023, the town experienced a leadership transition in its Police Department when the chief departed for a new post. Westborough sits at the intersection of major highways and is served by a commuter rail station, which together support access to Boston and Worcester and underscore its suitability for business headquarters. Historically, the town shifted from manufacturing activities such as sleighs, straw hats, and boots to sectors including computer and telecommunications equipment, and a substantial portion of employment now resides in the service sector. Located in Massachusetts, the town covers about 21.6 square miles and sits roughly 12 miles east of Worcester and 29 miles west of Boston, supporting a mix of residences, wooded trails, and industry.
