The Transportation Authority of Marin (TAM) serves as Marin County's congestion management agency and transportation sales tax authority. Based in San Rafael, Marin County, California, TAM was established by county voters to fund and advance transportation infrastructure and programs that improve mobility, safety, and quality of life across the county. It collaborates with towns, cities, transportation agencies and community groups to identify transportation needs and allocate local, state and federal funds. Marin is a Self-Help County, a designation reflecting voter-approved dedicated transportation funding that also positions TAM to pursue regional, state and federal grants. TAM coordinates a mix of projects and programs—from road, highway and interchange work to sidewalk improvements, Safe Routes to Schools, bicycle lanes, transit, paratransit and other mobility options—to improve overall mobility in Marin County.
