Traverse City Area Public Schools (TCAPS) is the largest school district in northwestern Michigan, based in Traverse City, Michigan. It serves about 10,000 students across 300 square miles in Grand Traverse, Benzie, and Leelanau counties, and operates 11 elementary schools, two middle schools, three high schools, and preschool classrooms. The district provides a broad range of academic and extracurricular programs to its students. In 2026, the district pursued collaborations with Northwest Education, Grand Traverse Area Catholic Schools, and the Interlochen Center for the Arts to develop a site, and broke ground on a new indoor fieldhouse. It has earned recognitions such as the Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting for 21 consecutive years and was named a 2026 Education Excellence Award winner for its Student Support Network program.
