The Truckee Tahoe Airport District operates the Truckee Tahoe Airport, a public general aviation facility serving the Sierra Nevada region from Truckee, California. It is a California Special Airport District overseen by a publicly elected five-member board, with district staff managing day-to-day operations under FAA designation as a General Aviation public airport (TRK/KTRK). The airport sits at about 5,900 feet in elevation amid mountainous terrain, and safety is supported by weather information, navigation assistance, emergency landing facilities, and coordination for emergency medical, fire, and search-and-rescue services. Infrastructure includes two asphalt runways — 11/29 at 7,000 by 100 feet and 2/20 at 4,650 by 75 feet — a non-Federal contract air traffic control tower, and an ADS-B ground station network. TTAD oversees more than 200 hangars for a range of aircraft, reflecting its role in regional aviation infrastructure. Beyond safety, TTAD runs neighbor-oriented programs such as Fly Quiet and Sustainable Aviation Fuel initiatives, and recently hosted the east-county launch of MUSE 2026 in partnership with the Nevada County Arts Council and the Truckee Cultural District.
