Tryon Farm Institute, Inc. is an Indiana-chartered non-profit land trust and education membership organization based in Michigan City, Indiana. Its mission is to connect human and natural communities by promoting habitat diversity and sustainable land husbandry. The organization pursues its goals through three core activities—demonstration, education, and exchange—that center on stewarding land and fostering community involvement. Through demonstration, TFI manages agricultural and preservation lands that have interdependencies with surrounding areas, using these properties as a practical learning laboratory with public access to illustrate real-world sustainable land-use practices. Its education program offers diverse learning opportunities in environmental science, sustainable agriculture, and low-impact development for participants of all ages drawing from schools, professional groups, government agencies, and land-use practitioners. The institute also acts as a hub for information exchange, supporting research, dialogue, and partnerships that enable member-driven initiatives to sustainably engage the land and connect human and natural communities.
