Turnaround Arts California is a nonprofit organization bringing the transformative power of the arts into underserved public schools—to spark creativity, inspire learning, and unlock every student’s potential.

Decades of research affirm what we see every day: early and consistent access to the arts profoundly shapes children’s development, academic success, and long-term life outcomes. The arts ignite curiosity, strengthen critical thinking, foster collaboration, and nurture the creativity that drives 21st-century success. The arts help students love school, stay engaged, and imagine the possibilities for their futures. Yet so many students don’t have the access they deserve.

We partner with K-8 public elementary and middle schools in communities where at least 75% of students qualify for free or reduced-price meals. Our distinct approach invests deeply in educators. We believe that empowering teachers is key to empowering students. Through our award-winning, research-backed programming, we provide comprehensive support—including professional development, arts integration resources, individualized coaching, peer learning networks, and engagement with both local and renowned artists.

Together, these efforts equip educators with the tools and confidence to weave the arts into every corner of school life. The result is transformational: more engaged classrooms, and stronger school communities where students, families, and educators feel inspired, connected, and ready to achieve.
