Tuscaloosa City Schools is a public K-12 school district based in the Tuscaloosa metropolitan area of Alabama that serves more than 10,000 students from pre-K through 12th grade. The district comprises 23 schools, including 13 elementary schools, 6 middle schools, and 3 high schools, along with two specialty campuses devoted to students with special needs or alternative education and a career-technical facility for grades 9-12. More than 1,300 staff support instructional and operational functions across the district from the start of the school year to graduation. In 2026, the district launched a direct pathway program for students pursuing careers in law enforcement, developed in collaboration with Shelton State Community College and the City of Tuscaloosa.
