UFAR — Fighting Neglected Tropical Diseases — United Front Against Riverblindness is a small international affairs organization based in Lawrence Township, New Jersey. Its core aim is to contribute to eliminating onchocerciasis as a major public health and socioeconomic problem in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, through collaboration with the APOC program and the national government. The organization emphasizes capacity building, particularly for local healthcare personnel and community workers, to establish a community-based, self-sustaining program for onchocerciasis control and elimination. UFAR seeks to integrate the CDTI strategy into the national health delivery system to ensure sustainability and to support the co-implementation of multiple health interventions, such as lymphatic filariasis control and vitamin A distribution, using CDTI as a vehicle. It aims to foster strong relationships with partners in the fight against onchocerciasis and to maintain accountability across all aspects of its program.
