Unapei is a French associative movement created in 1960 that represents the interests of people with disabilities and their families. Working with its affiliated associations, it aims to ensure the effective rights of these individuals and to respond to their needs with tailored solutions, pursuing an inclusive and solidaristic society. It represents people with intellectual disabilities, polyhandicap, autism, cerebral palsy, and mental illness. The network serves about 200,000 people with disabilities, 55,000 member families, and 71,500 volunteers, supported by 3,100 establishments and services and 94,000 professionals. Based in Paris in the Île-de-France region, Unapei operates within the civic and social organizations sector as a nationwide network focused on disability rights and services. In February 2023, Unapei and the French police signed an agreement to develop accessibility of public security services.
