UNITAS is an international non-profit organization dedicated to preventing human trafficking and exploitation in the US and Eastern Europe through education & awareness to stop trafficking before it starts.  

Human trafficking is modern day slavery and it is the world’s fastest growing criminal industry affecting every nation across the globe, undermining the health, safety, security, and basic needs of humanity. There are currently more slaves in the world than at any other time in human history, with an estimated 25 million human trafficking victims across the globe, of which more than 20% are children. In the US more than 100,000 children are at risk and tens of thousands are trafficked each year. 

UNITAS began combating trafficking in 2015 and believing in unity, as the name suggests, UNITAS quickly forged partnerships with governments, NGOs, executives, and experts in the field to develop collaborative solutions in the fight against human trafficking.  In partnership with the Serbian government, UNITAS has made amazing progress towards its goal of educating every teenager in Serbian schools with its prevention education curriculum.  As a result, over 53,000 teens to date have been empowered with the necessary knowledge and skills to identify and avoid the schemes of human traffickers. UNITAS has also produced the film “Observers” (https://youtube.com/watch?v=TE5xEwQZy5I)  which is helping tens of thousands of children in Eastern Europe learn how to avoid sex trafficking and exploitation. 

Now we are working to implement the same awareness and prevention education activities and strategy here in the US by developing a comprehensive prevention education curriculum for middle and high school students, complemented with a guidebook for parents as well as with online social media and digital ad campaigns to reach adults and children with vital information.
