The United States International Trade Commission is an independent, quasi-judicial federal agency responsible for investigating trade-related issues. It examines the effects of dumped and subsidized imports on U.S. industries, conducts global safeguard inquiries, and adjudicates cases involving imports that infringe intellectual property rights, supported by a staff of several hundred. Based in Washington, DC, the commission provides independent analysis to the President, USTR, and Congress and maintains the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States.
