Founded in 1845, the United States Naval Academy is a four-year service academy in Annapolis, Maryland, that prepares midshipmen to become professional officers in the U.S. Navy or Marine Corps. The program integrates academics, military training, and physical development, and the Brigade of Midshipmen—the student body of more than 4,400 individuals from every state and several foreign countries—embodies its diverse cohorts.

Graduates earn a Bachelor of Science degree in one of 25 majors and commit to at least five years of commissioned service. The campus spans about 338 acres between the Severn River and downtown Annapolis and features notable landmarks such as Bancroft Hall and the Naval Academy Chapel. The academy supports a broad array of athletic and extracurricular activities, including 33 intercollegiate varsity sports and a variety of engineering, military, arts, and professional clubs. In 2026, the institution appointed Capt. Clinton A. Cornell as its 92nd Commandant of Midshipmen.
