United Steel Industrial Company, also known as Kuwait Steel, is a Kuwait City-based producer in the mining sector that was founded in 1996 by Kuwaiti investors. In its early years, in collaboration with VOEST Alpine of Austria, the company erected Kuwait’s first fully automated rolling mill on a 40,000-square-meter site, delivering an initial annual capacity of 750,000 metric tons of reinforcing steel bars sized from 8 to 40 mm. This milestone established the scale of its initial operations in the Kuwaiti market.

Today, Kuwait Steel operates two rolling mill plants with a combined annual capacity of 1.4 million metric tons and a steel making plant capable of producing 1.2 million metric tons per year, with all facilities reported to be running at full production to meet demand. Its product focus remains reinforcing steel bars produced to meet market demand. The company remains positioned within Kuwait’s steel industry as a multi-plant operation expanding from its early automated mill setup.
