Universidad de Talca is a public, not-for-profit higher education institution in Chile. It was established in 1981 through the merger of the former campuses of the University of Chile and the Technical State University (UTE) and sits within the Council of Rectors of Chilean Universities (CRUCH) as one of its 25 member institutions. The university's main campus is in Talca, in the Maule region, and it maintains four campuses in Talca, Curicó, Santa Cruz (Colchagua), and Santiago; its activities are guided by a strategic plan defined through 2015 that supports a vision of being innovative, internationally oriented, and socially and environmentally responsible. It serves a student body of roughly nine thousand, with more than seven thousand six hundred undergraduates across the sciences, the arts, the letters, and technological innovation, and over one thousand four hundred postgraduate and specialized students. A notable recent development is a 2023 collaboration with Vinacyt to host a conference on research and innovation linked to industry, organized in conjunction with Viña Concha y Toro's Center for Research and Innovation and UTalca.
