Universidad para la Cooperación Internacional (UCI) is a Costa Rican, non-profit higher education institution founded in 1994 and based in San José. It emphasizes developing professionals capable of addressing multifaceted contemporary problems through inter- and transdisciplinary training anchored in sustainability and globalization. Since its founding, UCI has graduated more than 5,000 individuals across over 50 countries and is registered with the national higher education regulator CONESUP. The university maintains a role in international cooperation, collaborating with governments, state institutions, universities, local organizations, indigenous communities, companies, NGOs, and civil society to develop programs and share expertise across the region. Its approach draws on the strengths of institutions and organizations from different countries to create unique, high-value academic products and advance learning within an international community. UCI is noted for its academic focus and methodologies and for providing technical assistance to countries in Latin America and the Caribbean through numerous cooperation agreements.
