The University Federal of Lavras was created in 1908 and historically has been directed to agriculture-related majors but has broaden the field of study to engennering and education and this year it has been awarded the 3rd place among all Brasilian Universities in terms of course's quality. Apart from education, the school is a strong research facility with 24 different graduation courses most of it agriculture-related. The close location to large cities (Belo Horitonte 220km, Sao Paulo 400km and Campinas 350km) and easy access (12km from Fernao Dias, one of the main railways in the country), the pleasant and safe environment that students find at Lavras, combined to the nice weather throughout the year, certainly reflects to the students with the high education and research we have been awarded lately.
