Universidade Federal do Paraná (UFPR) is a higher education institution located at 1299 Rua xv de Novembro, Curitiba, Paraná, Brazil. It is the oldest university in Brazil, a status linked to its long history in the development of the state. The university's origins trace back to 1892, when Rocha Pombo laid the foundation stone for a future university, but the project did not advance due to political instability associated with the Federalist-Republican conflict. On December 19, 1912, Victor Ferreira do Amaral e Silva led the effective creation of the University of Paraná, and in 1913 it began operating as a private institution with courses in law and social sciences, engineering, medicine and surgery, commerce, dentistry, pharmacy, and obstetrics. Today UFPR employs between 5,001 and 10,000 people and maintains information about its activities on its website, https://ufpr.br.
