Based in Namur, Belgium, Université de Namur is a large higher education institution organized around seven faculties and eleven institutes. It aims to educate students and researchers who act as responsible participants in society, encouraging involvement in social, civic, and humanist projects that support a democratic, pluralist, and solidaristic society. In its research program, the university pursues topics that combine scientific excellence with long-term relevance and emphasizes interdisciplinarity, taking into account the human and social implications of science and technology. The university also fulfills a service role by collaborating with local, regional, national, and international actors to contribute to the cultural, social, political, and economic development of its region. It makes its knowledge available to citizens through its seven faculties and eleven institutes to address major societal challenges, notably inequality. Researchers work on inter- and transdisciplinary projects that span applied and fundamental research across fields such as life sciences and health; digital society; patrimony, cultures and societies; economic and social vulnerability; and materials, energy and environment. A 2022 development notes a partnership with the University of Louisiana at Lafayette to establish a student exchange program.
