The University Co-op is a not-for-profit retail organization serving the University of Texas at Austin community, focused on lowering the cost of course materials for Longhorn students. Founded in 1896 by Dr. William J. Battle, it began on campus and later expanded off campus to also serve local residents. It operates as a 501(c)(3) educational corporation owned by the university's students, faculty, and staff, maintaining its mission through changing times.

Each semester it oversees the Course Material requisition process to ensure compliance with state and federal law and supports tens of thousands of students from textbooks to graduation items like announcements and cap and gown. In November 2024, it was recognized as an Austin American-Statesman Top Workplace, reflecting its ongoing role within the local community.
