University Emergency Medicine Foundation (UEMF) is a nonprofit academic medical practice based in Providence, Rhode Island, that administers the Department of Emergency Medicine at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. It also oversees the emergency departments at Rhode Island Hospital, Hasbro Children's Hospital, and The Miriam and Newport Hospital, collectively treating more than 250,000 patients each year. The organization supports its academic and research mission through activities spanning basic science, clinical practices, and public health research. As a training-focused nonprofit, UEMF operates the Brown University/Rhode Island Hospital Emergency Medicine Residency Program, training 48 emergency medicine residents. It also sponsors fellowship programs in partnership with Rhode Island Hospital and Brown University. Through these activities, UEMF supports both patient care across its affiliated emergency departments and the education and research objectives central to its academic mission.
