University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust (UHNM) is a large NHS hospital trust formed by the merger of Stafford Hospital and the University Hospitals of North Staffordshire. It operates two hospital sites—Royal Stoke University Hospital near the Stoke-on-Trent/Newcastle-under-Lyme border and County Hospital in Stafford. The trust provides the full spectrum of emergency and planned care, alongside a wide range of specialised services for a population of about three million in Staffordshire and North Wales, with capabilities reaching a broader regional audience. Its aim is to realise the 2025Vision of becoming a world-class centre of clinical and academic achievement. In May 2026, UHNM was recognized as among the top five most improved NHS trusts in England for reducing diagnostic waiting times. The trust has long-standing partnerships with external providers, including Sodexo, to deliver facilities and support services at Royal Stoke University Hospital.
