University Neighborhood Housing Program is a Bronx-based nonprofit focused on creating and preserving affordable housing and mobilizing resources for the Northwest Bronx community. With more than four decades in operation, its work has evolved from addressing redlining and disinvestment to identifying distressed multifamily properties and supporting the development of new affordable housing. The organization directly serves local residents through the Northwest Bronx Resource Center and collaborates with six other nonprofits to provide housing-related services. Its activities encompass providing technical assistance to community-based organizations, affordable housing managers, and neighborhood groups, along with research through the Multifamily Research and Action Center to inform housing affordability efforts across the city. UNHP is a co-owner of West Farms Square, an eight-building, 526-unit affordable housing complex, in partnership with Fordham Bedford Housing Corporation. In 2024, the New York Housing Conference named UNHP Nonprofit of the Year, recognizing its contributions to the field.
