Incorporated in 1966, The University of Akron Foundation has been designated by the Board of Trustees as the fundraising entity for The University of Akron. As a 501(c)(3), not-for-profit organization, the UA Foundation receives monies on behalf of the UA, manages and invests those funds, and administers them in accordance with donor wishes. Alumni, friends, corporations, and foundations have a deep interest in supporting the University of Akron. To this goal, as the gift-receiving “arm" of the University, the UA Foundation has provided many new opportunities for students and faculty to grow and excel. Imparting tens of millions of dollars in student financial aid, lectureships, professorships, chairs, instructional grants, equipment funds, landscape improvements, and many other important programs, the UA Foundation is a vital part of supporting The University of Akron’s goal in becoming the leading public university in Northern Ohio. The UA Foundation is governed by a Board of Directors and special committees who safeguard and manage its assets. Many are leaders in the business and professional community, contributing their time and expertise to ensure a bright future for The University of Akron.
